ROSEMARY SMOOSHING BRUSH SIZE LARGE (SHORT HANDLE)
ROSEMARY & CO is a family run business in England that makes fantastic travel brushes and other brushes for watercolour artists.
ROSEMARY SMOOSHING BRUSH SIZE LARGE range to be an inexpensive blending brush.
The Smooshing Brush is made from a blend of different grades of badger hair.
I’ve packed the hairs into the ferrule really tightly to create a dense brush, which will be firm to the touch, but still flexible.
The beauty of the domed shape allows for a multitude of brush strokes.
Sometimes known as a smudger, a tinter or a blender.
This versatile brush can be used in all mediums.
In decorative painting, you would tend to use it as a dry brush and for softening edges. But this brush is a good little all rounder and useful in any medium.
A favourite for blending for Oils.
For Oil and Acrylic painters, if you load this brush full of pigment, it’ll be great for your seascapes, stippling, clouds, highlights and shading.
Start with wiping your brushes on a rag or paper towel. You should then wash them thoroughly with a good soap. To clean them thoroughly you can use a dish soap. Don’t endorse the use of mineral spirits or solvents. Though they are quicker for the process; they are a known brush killer. Oil cleans oil, so safflower, rapeseed & linseed oils should work too.
WATER BRUSH
Cleaning watercolour brushes is easy! Grab your brushes and head to the sink. You can hold them under the tap and let the pigment wash off them with the flow of the water. Get yourself a bar of soap and use the palm of your hand to gently wipe the brushes back and forth to ensure they are clean throughout. Squeeze the water out of the brush and reshape them. Store upright and condition them from time to time. Easy peasy.
