This range of colours offers the perfect mixing palette. Use these three colours alone to mix secondary greens, oranges and purples, then use Titanium White to adjust the shades.
Daniel Smith Extra Fine Gouache is a professional grade, artists’ gouache paint made to the same high standards as the brand’s Extra Fine Watercolour range. These paints are made using the same fine pigments and high quality gum arabic as their watercolours, but are made with a higher pigment load to deliver dense, opaque colour without the use of white or other fillers. Available in a selection of colours in 15ml tubes, or in a primary mixing set.
Prussian Blue is very dark in mass tone. When mixed with white, it’s similar to Phthalo Blue (Green Shade), though slightly greener. Prussian Blue has been on artists’ palettes for almost 300 years.

In mass tone, this is a rich, deep red-violet (cooler than Quinacridone Pink) and when mixed with white, it’s a vivid violet pink. Quinacridone Magenta is vibrant and mixes very cleanly. Like all Quinacridones, it’s an extremely lightfast, organic pigment. In terms of complementary couples, Quinacridone Magenta works especially well with yellow greens.
