Rosemary Series 2085. Chungking Egberts long handle Size 4

Chungking Bristles (Bristles from hogs raised in the region of the Chinese city of Chungking) considered to be the best for oil painting, having long, deep flags. Theoretically the longer the flags the better the bristle. Used mainly for oil, acrylic and hobby ceramics. Interlocked ‘curved’ heads allow retention of shape. These superior quality bristles are less likely to ‘splay’ or spread in use.

The Series 2085 are a unique brush shape, which allows a looser more organic stroke. The length of this brush allows for precision, lines and flicks. Try one, it’s a must!

Size -4

A long haired brush, when used full of paint gives a very particular sort of stroke- the paint applies thickly, but the impasto quite short as the spring of the long hair lends itself to a thicker stroke that ends quickly with evidence of the hair dragging through the paint.  When used oil rich, or full of solvent, the Egbert can act a bit like a rigger, precise, long lines that when done confidently have a steady thickness and calligraphic edge.” Leo Mancini-Hresco

HOW TO CLEAN THE BRUSH

ACRYLICS BRUSH

You must not let the Acrylic paint dry on your brush as this is really difficult to get out. Grab a rag or kitchen towel and wipe away any excess paint from the brush this will make the washing process faster and easier. Thoroughly rinse the brush with water and wipe the brush in your palm to get the paint out. You can use soap to speed this process and condition your brushes.

OIL BRUSH

Start with wiping your brushes on a rag or paper towel. You should then wash them thoroughly with a good soap. (You can use olive oil soap for example). To clean them thoroughly you can use a dish soap (in England we call it fairy liquid), or overseas you may have Murphys Oil Soap or Dawn. Don’t endorse the use of mineral spirits or solvents. They are a known brush killer. Oil cleans oil, so safflower, rapeseed & linseed oils should work too.
