Which grammage of paper is best suited for watercolour painting?

The choice of GSM / grammage / thickness of paper for a particular painting depends upon the nature of work.

Watercolour work is best done on 300 GSM paper. Any paper when wet will buckle due to its inherent nature. Hence it is advisable to tape it on a board before starting to paint. This will reduce buckling.

Products like Handy Block 300 GSM can be used to avoid the taping process.

Higher GSM papers (450 and 640 GSM) have their own charm to work with watercolour as well as acrylic medium.
